Collection consists of records relating to the student strike, which occurred during the week of May 5-10, 1970, when Pres. Kemeny suspended classes in order to mark the deaths of the Kent State University students and in order to offer workshops and seminars on the Vietnam War, civil rights, and other issues to members of the college community.

The 20th Commemoration of the Kent State shootings, held in 1990, remains one of the largest-attended of all the annual gatherings.
