Painting [realia] : Thomas Worthington. 1800 circa.

Half-length portrait of Thomas Worthington was painted in Virginia around 1800. This oil painting is in a rectangular, gold-colored, wooden frame with an oval liner. This frame is thought to be the original. The painting on canvas shows Worthington looking forward against a green background. Worthington wears a gray coat with a high collar, a light gray waistcoat with a pink flowered pattern (most likely the waistcoat he wore at his wedding in 1796), and a white cravat. His hair is white, having been powdered.
