Grant by Ralph Ellis of Topcrofte (Norf.), singleman, to John Dove the elder of Harleston (Norf.), brewer, of the south part of a messuage or tenement called "Hempstedes" and part of 1 piece of land adjacent containing half an acre and called from ancient time "Ruddyes," lying in Mendham (Suff.), bounded by the rest of the aforesaid messuage and piece of land, and by the king's highway leading from Harleston marketplace to the bridge called "Shotforth Bridge" to the west, the close late belonging to Stephen Baxter, gentleman, called "Hempstedes" alias "Hempsteales" to the east, and abutting on "Hampstedes" to the south, and on the aforesiad messuages and on land late of Stephen Baxter called "Seymeres Close" to the north. Given on 10 October, 14 Charles II. Endorsed with a note of livery of seisin.
