Bond of Robert Swan the Younger of Hadlow in the county of Kent, esquire, to Roger Twysden of East Peckham in the county of Kent, knight and baronet, in the sum of £200. Whereas Elizabeth Swan, now wife of the said Robert and relict of Henry Keble of Hadlow, yeoman, during her widohood conveyed by indenture dated 6 August, 11 Charles [I] [1635], 3 parcels of land called Newmeade, Caulsdon Meade, and Little Body containing acres in Hadlow (of which she was seized in fee simple) to George Cotton of Hadlow, gentleman, John Keble, and John Stone of East Peckham, with the proviso that if Elizabeth should pay for Katherine, Elizabeth, Jane, Frances, and Constance, the five daughters of Henry Keble her late husband, the sum of £20 a piece according to the intent of the said Henry's will, it should by lawful for her to re-enter on the premised; and whereas since then Robert Swan, Elizabeth his wife, George Cotton, John Keble, and John Stone have conveyed Newmeade to Sir Roger Twysden, now if the said Sir Roger be kept indemnified against the claims of the said five daughters of Henry Keble, their husbands, executors,and assigns for the sums of £20 by reason of the said proviso, and if Robert and Elizabeth observe the covenants in a pair of indentures of even date, then this bond shall be null and void; and if not it is to remain in full force.

Soldier, courtier, author and antiquary, Sir Roger Twysden made his home at Royden Hall in the county of Kent, England. He collected Greek and Hebrew manuscripts as well as printed books. Upon his death, his collection passed to Sir John Sebright (1767-1846) of Beechwood Park, Hertfordshire, who sold the main portion at auction through Leigh and Sotheby on 6 April 1807.
