Papers, 1916-1938.

The first series consists of two volumes of photocopies of holograph letters addressed to Joseph M. Paley, who was appointed Cardozo's secretary in 1918. The correspondence covers the period of 1918 to 1937, but there are only scattered letters after 1929. The letters are essentially personal-professional. The second series is a photocopy of a notebook entitled: Constitutional History of England. The third series contains photocopies of petitions for writs of certiorari U.S. Supreme Court, Oct. Term 1932. Photocopies of manuscripts, addresses and essays are included in the fourth group of papers.
