Grant, 1256, November 21. 41 Henry III.

Agreement made between Brother Thomas the abbot and the convent of Dunekewell of the one part and Richard de Lumine son of Richard Lumen' of the other part on the morrow of the feast of St Edmund King and Martyr, 41 Henry [III]: that the said Richard has granted to the abbot and convent a common pasture throughout the hills of Gydesham [bounds given] for 30 animals and 250 sheep or without sheep for 40 animals and to their villeins of Waringest' and Rapelingeh' that they may have as many animals on the pasture as they can winter in their byres; also grant of turf and furze provided Richard and his heirs may assart and till the said mountain, leaving sufficient entry and egress to the common pasture. The monastery agrees to pay a yearly rent of 1lb. of cumin.
