Agreement between Sir Edward Carye, knight, master and treasurer of the King's Jewels and plate, and the Lady Katherine his wife of the one part, and Sir Henry Carye, knight, son and heir apparent of the said Sir Edward Carye, Sir Philip Carye, knight, William Pytt of the city of Westminster, esq., and John Williams, citizen and goldsmith of London of the other part,witnessing that whereas a lease from the Crown was granted to the said Sir Edward Carye under the Great Seal of Eryland bearing the date 17 February 13 Elizabeth [I], of the capital messuage of the manor of Minster in the isle of Thanet (Kent), and other lands in the same county, for a term not yet expired, at a rent of £127 9s. per annum, and whereas a grant of the reversion of the said manor and of the said rent was made to Sir Philip Carye, William Pytt, and John Williams on 24 December 9 James [I], it is agreed between the parties that for the remainder of his term, if he shall so long as the said Sir Edward Carye shall receive during his life a yearly rent of £120 out of the said manor, at his house in Great St. Bartholomews, London. After his death, the said Lady Katherine is to receive a life annuity of £120 for her life out of the said manor with penalty for arrears of payment and power to distrain.
