Allen and Simpson family papers, 1862-1864 [manuscript].

Personal letters between Lt. James M. Simpson, 13th Alabama Infantry Regiment, C.S.A., serving in Virginia, and his mother and his wife, Addie Alden Simpson, in Tallassee, Tallapoosa County, Ala., describing, among other matters, religious life in camp, the Battle of Gettysburg, and family and community news from Tallassee. Also included are a letter from J. Wheeler to the citizens of Tennessee calling for more volunteers, an autobiographical sketch of Charles Teed Pollard (b. 1805) of Alabama(?), written in 1887, and love letters between James and Addie Simpson.
