Milton Rendahl discusses the growth of San Jose State College during the 1940s, due to the influx of students returning from WWII. He also discusses the changes in the sociology department as it split into different but related disciplines. He further discusses the beginnings of the faculty council and various faculty members he worked with including Harry Edwards.

Born in Eureka, California, H. Brett Melendy (1924-2008) spent most of his life in California and Hawaii. He received his Master of Arts in Education in 1948 and his Doctorate in History in 1952 from Stanford University. During this time, he also taught high school in Fresno, California.
