Collection, 1892-1955.

Collection consists of 5,000 working drawings by Feininger; 19,100 photographs taken by Feininger; personal correspondence; 13 unfinished oil paintings; and exhibition catalogues. Photographs include 990 glass plate negatives, 3 electroplates, 12,000 frames of 35mm. film, 1,100 black and white photographs, and 5,000 slides. About 1500 of the slides were hand-mounted and classified by Feininger. Also included in the slides are 10 which were hand-drawn by Feininger; several travel photographs, dated 1922 to 1955, taken by Feininger in Europe and the United States; reproductions of works of art by Feininger and other artists; and positive and negative slides of the same subject, possibly used as a teaching tool.
