Commedia intitolata l'ingelosite speranze. [16--]

Seventeenth century manuscript of Raffaele Tauro's play L'ingelosite speranze. Based on Lope de Vega's Lo cierto por lo dudoso, Tauro's play was written at the height of the vogue for Spanish theater in Italy and was published in 1670 (though one source says 1651) and is one of two plays Tauro, an abbot in his native Bitonto, wrote based on the work of de Vega. The manuscript includes stage directions (within rectagular border rules) that indicate the involvement of a troupe of musicians or singers. Though it is unclear whose copy of the play this was, it contains occasional deletions and corrections as well as pen trials in the same hand on the verson of the last page.

80 p., bound ; 20 cm.
