College of Engineering records, 1930-2002 (bulk 1943-1983).

The College of Engineering Records document the instruction, research, and outreach activities of the College, the professional activities of engineering faculty, and the collaborative programs between the College and other OSU units. The records include reports, correspondence, proposals, publications, news clippintgs, and floor plans. The bulk of the records are in paper form; some series are available only on microfilm. The records address a variety of topics in addition to engineering instruction and research, including regional and national professional engineering associations, accreditation of the the College's degree programs, development of the Water Resources Research Institute, women and minorities in engineering, facilities and buildings, the Capitol Planning Commission for Oregon, the cooperative program between Oregon State College and Kasetsart University in Thailand, and Oregon State College's involvement in the Army Specialized Training Program during World War II and other military training activities.

On Dec. 7, 1922, Oregon Agricultural College was granted a license to begin broadcasting radio station KFDJ, which had been put together as a lab experiment by OAC Physics Professor Jacob Jordan. The station's first broadcast was on Jan. 23, 1923 from the third floor of Apperson Hall. Unit 3900 of the Army Specialized Training Program (ASTP) was established by the War Department at Oregon State College in March 1943. The program provided training for high grade technicians and specialists needed by the Army for the war effort. Most of the instruction was provided by regular Oregon State College faculty; E.B.
