Organized in 1901, the Recital Club of Garner, Iowa, originally provided a musical or dramatic program at each meeting. By 1957, the club'sfocus had become improvement of the local community. Its Community Improvement Program ultimately resulted in the organization of the Garner Town and Country Planning Council which promoted such projects as a public swimming pool and retirement apartments.
