Marie Schultz Meyer graduated from the State University of Iowa (now the University of Iowa) School of Nursing in 1939 and became a certified registered nurse in 1940. She worked briefly at the University (of Iowa) Hospital and the Decorah Hospital in Decorah, Iowa, then spent twenty years at the Community Memorial Hospital in Postville, Iowa.
