Jones, Jesse Holman, papers, 1880-1965.

Papers concern the career of Jones, and relate to the construction of buildings in Houston, Fort Worth, Dallas, and San Antonio; real estate holdings in Dallas, Houston, Memphis, and New York City; the Democratic National Convention of 1928 in Houston; the development of the San Jacinto monument and battleground, and the berthing of the battleship Texas; the creation of the Houston Endowment, Inc.; Jones' service as director general of the Department of Military Relief of the American Red Cross War Council during World War I, as federal loan administrator of the Reconstruction Finance Corporation and secretary of commerce under Franklin D. Roosevelt, and as director general of the Texas Centennial Celebration; his activities as the chairman of the Houston Harbor Board, as a member of St. Paul's Methodist Church, and in development, finance, and banking operations, particularly in Houston; and his collaboration with Edward Angley in writing 50 Million Dollars. Many of Jones' papers for the years 1930-1950, when Jones was active in the federal government, are located in the Library of Congress.
