A letterbook containing copies of outgoing correspondence kept by Beekman Winthrop, 1904-1907, while serving as governor of Puerto Rico includes letters written to former Govs. Charles H. Allen and William H. Hunt, Secretary of War William Taft, and President Theodore Roosevelt regarding the administration of Puerto Rico and politics relating to the island's jurisdiction as a territory of the United States. Also included is a scrapbook containing newspaper clippings, dinner invitations, and calling cards kept by Winthrop, 1904-1907, during his tenure as gov. of Puerto Rico.
