The National Organization for Women Legal Defense & Education Fund was established in 1970 as a "public service organization dedicated to achieving equality for women and girls." LDEF has focused its efforts on gaining legal rights for women in educational and employment opportunity, cases of physical abuse and sexual harassment, and in marriage and divorce laws.
