Correspondence, speeches, notebooks, scrapbooks, and other papers primarily relating to Chester I. Long's service on the U.S. House Ways and Means Committee, 1899-1903, and in the U.S. Senate, 1903-9. Included is biographical material; Republican Party platforms, 1896-1908; lists and statistical & other information on Kansas Republicans, voters, & groups, particularly in regard to Long's unsuccessful bid for re-election in 1908; notes & information sheets on various issues before Congress; lists of lawyers by state showing membership in the American Bar Association; clippings relating to his presidency of the American Bar Association, 1925-26, & his unsuccessful 1924 U.S. House campaign; and other items. Unidentified lists of names of people in each Kansas county [ca. 1906-1908?] are in this collection (box 35) but do not appear on the microfilm.
