Containing copies of titles, deeds, and other records related to Madewood Plantation, volume provides a detailed synopsis of the sequence of owners and land holdings of the plantation. It includes copies of land transfers and sales; proceedings of Pugh family meetings about the plantation and its lands; documents certifying the sale of lands by various members of the Foret family, whose land holdings evidently became part of Madewood Plantation; tallies of the extent of the Foret lands and their value; and a document stating the terms of the will of Robert Pugh, who bequeathed Madewood Plantation to his nephew Llewellyn Pugh. Many of the documents are certified by Judge Bela Hubbard of Assumption Parish, La. Some documents are in French.
