Materials in this collection include those from Margaret Hornhorst's time as president of the Idaho State American War Mothers chapters in 1949 and in national positions from 1951 to 1967, including her term as president from 1965 until her death. They consist of meeting minutes, numerous photographs, convention and celebration information, and newspaper clippings.

This is the personal collection of Mrs. Margaret Hornhorst (1896-1967) of Hazelton, Idaho. She was born in Marysville, Kansas, and moved to Idaho with her family at the age of 13. Mary graduated from Jerome High School and married Guy K. Pharris in 1915. After his death 1932, Mary married Charles Hornhorst in 1937. They lived in the Hazelton area until her death.
