Charles Tiernan letters, 1838-1839.

Letters of Charles Tiernan, a New Orleans agent for the commission firm of Luke Tiernan & Co. of Baltimore, Md., to his father, Luke Tiernan of Baltimore. In the letters Tiernan describes unfavorable economic conditions resulting from the Panic of 1837, gives information regarding possible financial losses by the Commercial Bank of Natchez, remarks on payments to be made to the Bank of New Orleans, and expresses his hopes of avoiding insolvency proceedings.
