Correspondence and Financial Records, 1913-1942 1913-1932

This series comprises financial records and correspondence generated by the Santal Committee of the Danish Evangelical Lutheran Church (DELC). These records are from 1913-1942 with the majority dating from 1913-1932. They include a handwritten, bound, ledger book containing entries related to the income and expenditures of the committee and one folder of correspondence from Santal Committee treasurer Dagmar Moller to Mr. Olaf R. Juhl, DELC Synod treasurer. The ledger book titled "Santalmissionens Regneskab fra September 1913" or Santal Mission Accounts from September 1913, is written in Danish and contains entries recorded by Santal Committee treasurer Karoline Kjolhede. Entries reflect contributions to the Santal Committee listed by category, some of which include the Santal primary school, a village girl's school, contributions directed towards work of specific DELC Santal missionaries, for example, the work of Dr. Erling Ostergaard, or the general mission fund. The ledger also includes a yearly financial statement showing income and expenses for the committee and a listing of persons and organization sponsoring students in India. Most ledger entries include a date, name of person from whom donation was received, and amount of the donation. There are some extra loose-leaf papers in with the ledger that appear to be receipts sent to the DELC in acknowledgement of contributions to the Santal Mission, supplementary ledger entries, and one piece of financial correspondence. In the second folder, there are several pieces of handwritten correspondence from Santal Committee treasurer Karoline Kjolhede to DELC synod treasurer Mr. Olaf R. Juhl. This general correspondence outlines the donations made to the committee, but only for 1942. There is also correspondence to Miss Miller regarding contributions being sent to her and a circular letter regarding fundraising sent by the American Committee of the Santal Mission.
