Journal, commissions and orders concerning His Majesty's ships the Dorsetshire, Rochester and Royal Oak, 1717-1720.

These two volumes record orders and naval operation while patrolling British waters in the Mediterranean during the war with Spain from 1717-1720. The first volume is a journal of H.M.S. Dorsetshire, Rochester and Royal Oak, and the second journal contains commissions and orders concerning the same ships.

Richard Howe, Earl Howe, was born in London, England, on March 19, 1726, the son of Emanuel Scrope Howe (1699-1735) and Mary Sophia Charlotte von Kielmansegg (1703-1782).
