Lettres de cachet, circa 1723-1791.

Manuscript letterbook with diverse lettres de cachet, letters of safe conduct, and other administrative letters bound in, including a few brevets of army officers. Title from spine. A table of contents on the first page gives the length of each letter in pages, but no page numbers. Most letters are signed by Louis XVI, with a few in a rear pocket signed by Louis XV. Several of Louis XVI's letters are countersigned by de Calonne.
