Volume compiled by John Pierce, containing the "Annals of Dorchester, [Massachusetts, 1630-1754]" compiled by Pierce's ancestors James and Samuel Blake and copied by Pierce and his daughter Susan Tappan Pierce. Also included are a Pierce family genealogy, history, marriage records, and copies of wills; copies of First Parish church records of Brookline, Mass. where Pierce served as a Congregational minister; Pierce's autobiography to 1834; and a list of his published writings.

John Pierce (1773-1849) was born in Dorchester, Massachusetts, and graduated from Harvard College in 1793. He accepted an invitation to become the pastor of the First Church in Brookline, Massachusetts, and was ordained on March 15, 1797. In 1798, he married Abigail Lovel, who died in 1800. In 1802, he married Lucy Tappan, and he and Lucy were married for 47 years and had 10 children. Pierce was the sole pastor of the First Church in Brookline for 50 years.
