Corporal Nathaniel L. Truell : letters, 1861-1864.

Letters and fragments of letters from Corporal Nathaniel L. Truell to "Mother," "Sister Annie" and "Sister Eliza." One letter fragment, undated and unsigned, appears to be in a different hand and may not be by Corporal Truell. Most of the letters date from 1864, several are undated or without complete dates. Truell writes of his ill health and hospitalization; gives instructions to his mother about managing the livestock and the farm, and of everyday events. Some discussion of the war and its cost. In one undated letter, Truell instructs his mother not to pay his taxes and if "old Patch" wants them he can come out after them.
