Founded in 1913, as the Federation for Charity and Philanthropy, to coordinate funding for the numerous charities in Cleveland. It merged with the Welfare Council of Cleveland in 1917 to form the Cleveland Welfare Federation. In 1972 it became the Federation for Community Planning. Nationally recognized authority in the field of social reform during the first half of the 20th century. Much of Lynde's career was spent with the Associated Charities of Cleveland, 1923-33; then he became assistant director of the Family Welfare Association in New York.
