Collection consists of 210 autograph and typescript letters, postcards and greeting cards from Rose Macaulay to Daniel George, literary critic and publisher's reader; Nancy Pearn, booking agent for Curtis Brown, ltd.; St. John Adcock, editor of The Bookman; E.G. Barlow; Gerald Reid Barry; Daniel Bunting, Henry A. Phillips; and Alan Ross. The correspondence spans the years 1922 to 1956. Also included are typescript drafts of two poems by Macaulay, and two versions of an obituary for Macaulay by Daniel George.

Rose Macaulay was born in Rugby in 1881 and educated at Somerville College, Oxford. She was a prolific writer: her first best-seller was Potterism in 1920 but she also published a biography of John Milton, and wrote verse.
