Ihab Hassan is a prominent literary critic, scholar, and theorist best known for his work on postmodernism. He was born in Cairo, Egypt on October 17, 1925. He studied electical engineering at the University of Cairo and came to the United States in 1946, where he has remained ever since, to pursue graduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania (Penn).
