Collection contains volume one (334 pgs., rectos only) of the handwritten periodical, removed from its original binding. Contents are arranged in chapters containing stories presented in serial form, including "Drumyne, an historical romance," set in the Grampian Hills; "Ralph Kennedy's adventures in the back-woods of America;" "The witch's secret," set in the Hartz mountains; "A night of horror;" "An adventure in Greece;" "Life in a boarding school;" "Love and death," and "A strange story, dedicated to the Materialists." The opening of each chapter is illustrated by a pen-and-ink drawing, and there are other pen-and-ink illustrations throughout, including one in color.
