Samuel Webb genealogical materials, 1842 and undated.

Genealogical accounts and historical reminiscences, by Seth Webb, of the descendants of Samuel Webb, of Redrift, England, captain of a slave ship who was poisoned by African natives and died in 1708 and his son, Samuel (1696-1785), who escaped back to England and then made his way to the U.S., was captured by pirates, and eventually moved to Maine during King George's War, settling in Gorham, Me.

Seth Webb was born in Gorham, Maine, in 1778, the son of Eli and Sarah Webb. He was a farmer and also had a school in Standish, Maine. In 1832 he moved to Knox, Maine, where he also farmed, had a school and was a justice of the peace. Seth Webb died in 1861. His sons, Jeremiah and Albion, also appear to have been farmers in Knox.
