Thomas Jefferson Boyd papers, 1805-1939 (bulk 1819-1869).

The Thomas Jefferson Boyd papers are comprised of correspondence, legal documents, financial records, and personal papers concerning Boyd's legal practice, public service, personal business, and family life in Wytheville, Va. David French Boyd (1834-1899) was an officer in the Confederate Army who for a time was a prisoner of war on a Union boat moored in Alexandria, La. Thomas Jefferson Boyd was born on June 15, 1804, in Albemarle County, Va. He received a law degree from the University of Virginia in July 1828 and practiced law briefly in Charlottesville, then in Wytheville, Va. He married Minerva French in 1833 with whom he would have ten children.
