Corrected carbon typescript (357 leaves) entitled 'Book of days' which incorporates several mounted photographs and postcards. Includes reminiscences of the author's life and travels in Australia, France, the New Hebrides, New Caledonia and elsewhere in addition to a chapter on the Melbourne sculptor Paul Montford. The manuscript also includes a description of the visit of Jack London and his wife to Melbourne in 1909. Album of letters, autographs and invitations, mostly in French, collected by Lucy Bellow, possibly for the signatures. Many are undated, those with dates covering the period 1883-1901. Signatures include A. Dumas, V. Germain, Charles Giron and the sculptor E Bertram MacKennal (1863-1931). An incomplete description of Sarah Bernhardt sitting before her mirror at the theatre; two short notes headed 'Sarah and her sculpture'; notes headed '[The Capture of Beauty]' with a note that it was possibly quoted from a book on Sarah by Sir George Arthur; envelope labelled 'Rough notes re Sarah Bernhards [sic] Health & beauty lotion'; a brief list, possibly a recipe or a shopping list; and a visiting card. Reminiscences on Sarah Bernhardt, the recipe for her formula and of making up the recipe, the writer addressing a Peter as if in a letter but the first and the last page[s] are missing.
