The papers include articles relating to Black, correspondence (1985?), postcards of Aborigines, an engagement form for a piano recital with the ABC, autograph book with signatures of Don Bradman and others, clippings book relating to the musician Hugh King and a clippings book relating to the 1948 New Zealand tour with Anne Ziegler and Webster Booth. Also includes photographs of Black, his family, his Papua New Guinea tour and a performance in Sydney with Ziegler and Booth.

Black worked as an accompanist for many local and overseas artists who toured Australia, New Zealand and New Guinea. Black also played for ABC radio and Sydney's suburban cinemas.
