Letters [manuscript]. [ca. 1955-ca. 1972]

Fourteen letters from Jack to Cressida Lindsay, ten typewritten and four handwritten. The letters are undated but two have had dates annotated on them at a later time, one marked 1965 and the other 1972. The letters are of a personal nature, but also make passing comments on Jack's work and Cressida's writing endeavours. Some of Jack's works mentioned include The way the ball bounces (1962), Fanfrolico and after (1962), Cezanne, his life and art (1969) and Origins of alchemy (1970). One letter includes a poem that that Jack proposed to use to dedicate a book (A local habitation: a novel of the British way, 1957) to Cressida.
