The documents include an agreement, dated 2 January 1888, between the Mortgage and Agency Company of Australasia Limited and Robert Farquharson of Pall Mall, James Pellatt Rickman of London, James Wilson of London and William Robertson of Holland Park, Great Britain. The indenture relates to land in the Colony of Fiji known as Voti Voti and the Islands of Nananu and Zanuca in the district of Raki Raki on the Island of Viti Levu and land in the district of Savu Savu known as Levuka Lai Lai. Three other documents, dated 1886, relate to mortgages between the Mortgage and Agency Company of Australasia Limited and Fijian merchant, Paul Joske and his wife Ellen Joske.

Robert Farquharson, merchant and politician, was born 1836 and died 1918. He was a Member of Parliament for Scotland in the House of Commons, Great Britain. His autobiography is entitled 'In and out of parliament : reminiscences of a varied life' (Williams & Norgate, London, 1911). Farquharson was involved with property related dealings in Fiji.
