The diary, 1892-1918, was kept by James Cattle (1833-1905) who settled at Mildil (West of West Wyalong, N.S.W.). He married Sarah Jane (nee James) and had ten children. The cattle 'Round-up' is the story of the Cattle family who after settling in Rochester, Victoria and then Young, N.S.W. became the pioneers of this area.
