Henry Boote was born in Liverpool, England. In 1889 he emigrated to Australia and worked in Brisbane for 5 years as a jobbing compositor. During this period he contributed to the Queensland Worker. In 1894, Boote went to Bundaberg to edit the Bundaberg Guardian, a Labor paper. In 1897 he was invited by Andrew Fisher to start Gympie Truth. Boote was editor of Queensland Worker in 1902 and in 1911 he became leader and feature writer under Hector Lamond in the Australian Worker. He was active in th...

Henrietta Richardson Robinson, writing as Henry Handel Richardson, was a major Australian novelist rather forgotten in the rest of the world. Although she lived most of her adult life in Germany and England, her fiction remained Australian, evoking a sense of national pride in her fans and critics and influencing numerous diverse Australian authors.
