Collection of papers relating to Henry Handel Richardson [manuscript]. 1930-1937.

An artificial collection of letters and other papers written by or relating to Henry Handel Richardson. Comprises: 1. Forty three letters and 11 postcards dating from 1930 to 1937. They were written by H.H. Richardson to Mary F. McHugh (later Mrs Corrigan). Mention is made of Richardson's relative lack of popularity in Australia, her past efforts at writing poetry, the writing of Two studies (1931), the critics' response to The childhood (1934) and the death of her husband. 2. The original of T.E. Lawrence's letters to O. Schwartz together with a letter from H.H. Richardson to O. Schwartz, and a double-sided page of notes about Lawrence's comments. 3. Photograph of H.H. Richardson. 4. One of 50 copies of a German Christmas carol set to music by H.H. Richardson. 5. Number 120 of a limited edition of 500 of Two studies signed by the author. 6. Cuttings concerning H.H. Richardson.

Henrietta Richardson Robinson, writing as Henry Handel Richardson, was a major Australian novelist rather forgotten in the rest of the world.
