The in-house archives document the administration and history of the University as well as the Newcastle University College, Newcastle Teachers' College, Newcastle College of Advanced Education, Hunter Institute of Higher Education, and the Conservatorium of Music, Newcastle, and comprise permanent records received from some 416 University sources, which include the University Council and Academic Senate; successive Vice-Chancellors (J.J. Auchmuty, D.W. George, K.J. Morgan R. Mortley); administrative offices; faculties, academic staff and academic departments; students; alumni and benefactors. The University Archives encompass minutes and reports, policy and administrative files, plans and drawings, theses, photographs, oral history collections, and databases.
