This is a collection of copies of letters written by Sir Robert Herbert from 3 May 1864 to 16 November 1865 while he was serving as Premier of Queensland. Most of the letters are to his mother and to his sister Jane. They give details of his activities and of the political situation in Queensland. Subjects mentioned include the elections of 1863, various trips around the State, social events, and the Valley of Lagoons Station in which Sir Robert had invested. There are frequent references to Governor and Lady Bowen and to J. Bramston.
