This collection consists of correspondence, press cuttings, documents, company reports, photographs, etc., relating to the political career of Sir Robert Philp and to his partnership in the firm of Burns, Philp & Co. Subjects mentioned include Federation, the sugar industry, Thomas Ryan, Townsville, mining (mainly in Queensland), New Guinea, and the appointment of Sir Mathew Nathan. There is a good deal of correspondence with James Burns regarding the running of Burns, Philp & Co. Also included are several letters and telegrams from William Morris Hughes.
