Augustus Short was the first Anglican Bishop of Adelaide. He arrived in South Australia in 1847, having been consecrated in Westminster Abbey. He was a capable administrator and a good businessman, doing his best to meet the needs of Aborigines and bush communities, and was instrumental in starting the building of Adelaide Cathedral. He was also Chancellor of the University of Adelaide in 1876. Mathew Hale was the first Anglican Bishop of Perth, 1857-1875. From the description of Let...
