A collection of the papers of C.J. La Trobe, of which the largest part consists of his correspondence with Sir George Gipps (1839-1846) and his general correspondence (1839-1854). There is a small group of letters to his wife, Sophie (1844-1853). Among miscellaneous papers, the most important are his memoranda of journeys (1839-1854), and his returns relative to the various departments of the public service (1851-1854).
