Memoirs [manuscript]. 1943.

Two volumes written in Peking in 1943 - "The dead past" and "Decadence Mandchoue". The dead past contains biographies of Paul Verlaine, Stephane Mallarme, Aubrey Beardsley and Walter Pater, an autobiography of Backhouse, a specimen of the author's handwriting, a photo of the author in his 71st year taken on his death bed, and a postscript by R. Hoeppei. Decandence Mandchoue relates further narratives of his life in Peking.
