H F Hardacre, politician and Queensland Labour minister, was born at Dayton, Ohio ca. 7 March 1861 to English emigrants Sarah Ann and James Hardacre. After his father's death, Hardacre returned to England with his mother. He left school at nine to support his mother. In 1883 Hardacre emigrated to Queensland.
