Himie Voxman is among UI's most honored faculty and administrators. He earned a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the UI with high distinction in 1933, and received a master's degree in 1934 in the psychology of music, studying with pioneering researcher Carl Seashore. Benjamin Shambaugh was born in Elvira, Iowa. He received degrees from the University of Iowa and the University of Pennsylvania. He married Bertha M. Horack in 1897. From 1895 until 1940 Shambaugh was a professor of political science at the University of Iowa, chairing the department from 1900 to 1940.
