James Chalmers McRuer, born in Oxford Country, Ont., in 1890, was a distinguished educator, lawyer and judge. He was the Chief Justice of the High Court of Justice for Ontario between 1945-64 and served on a number of high-profile Royal Commissions. He died in 1985.
