These papers represent a lifetime's work on the study of Australian prehistory and reflect Professor Mulvaney's interest in and activities relating to a wide range of archaeological, anthropological and environmental issues. There is material relating to Professor Mulvaney's undergraduate and postgraduate studies; his writings, research interests and fieldwork; and his professional appointments such as his work with the Australian Institute of Aboriginal Studies, the Australian Academy of the Humanities, the Committee of Inquiry into Museums and National Collections, the Interim Committee of the National Estate, the Australian Heritage Commission and the National Museum of Australia.
