Drawings, journals [microform, photoprints]. 1965.

Two separate collections: 24 microfilm reels of records of Australian interest from the British Admiralty Office, including journals and logs kept on various ships sailing to Australia and the Pacific; and a large portfolio of photoprints of charts and drawings made by Peter Fannin, Master of the "Adventure" during Captain Cook's second voyage, 1772-1775, with the addition of an anonymous drawing of Adventure Bay, van Diemen's Land made during Captain Cook's third voyage, 1776-1780. These include sketches of wild life encountered and rough maps. The photoprints were made by the courtesy of the Library of the Naval Historical Branch of the Ministry of Defense, London, where the originals are held.

James Cook (b. November 7, 1728, Marton, Great Britan-d. February 14, 1779, Hawaii) was a British explorer, navigator, cartographer, and captain in the Royal Navy. Richard Howe, Earl Howe, was born in London, England, on March 19, 1726, the son of Emanuel Scrope Howe (1699-1735) and Mary Sophia Charlotte von Kielmansegg (1703-1782).
